This is a strikingly vibrant, original oil on board painting by Frank Kleinholz. The painting's condition is extraordinary. The scene depicts people in the foreground, a structure that looks to be a lighthouse in the center and buildings in the background. It is interesting that within this exquisitely colorful painting, there are 3 couples who are painted only in black and white. Each couple is hugging each other. They may be wedding couples or possibly, people who have passed on, however, at the present time, their meaning is unknown.
Frank Kleinholz had garnered worldwide recognition for his unique, abstract vision filled with vibrant colors.

Frame: The frame is wood painted with 2 tones of black and bronze colors. There is a linen-wrapped inner frame with a bronze-colored inner fillet. The frame looks to be original to the painting. It is in stable condition, but has many nicks and scratches. It measures 17" x 19".

Biography:
Borrn in Brooklyn, New York, Frank Kleinholz was a painter based in New York City. His work spanned several art movements including Expressionism and Social Realism. His early works reflected his experiences of the Great Depression and the World Wars. His later works focused on families and the bonds between adults and children. He was the son of a blind father. Frank graduated from Fordham Law School, and at age 23, was admitted to the law bar. In the mid-1930s, Kleinholtz began painting in earnest and gained quick recognition within the art world. His work had been included in hundreds of exhibitions worldwide including the prestigious, National Academy of Design and Worcester Art Institute.
